Nepal - Update #3

hi everyone!

a quick update since i don't want to tie up the aiton's phone lines...
turns out our trip to Lukla/Namche didn't work out for this weekend. all the flights were cancelled due to bad weather (it was cloudy), so no trekking this weekend. but we were able to pass out some Nepalese new testaments to some soldiers/police and even some airport staff who were checking our luggage (one even requested a copy). so here are the new plans: this morning we will fly out to Itahari/Dharan and spend a week there doing constructionn work, leprosy clinics, and do some ministry at the local churches there. we'll come back in a week (Sunday? Monday?) and hopefully do the Namche/Everest trek then. so far we've been very flexible with our schedule, as we have already lost 2 days in our schedule.

wayne has been doing good - his experience yesterday at the Paton Hospital was eye opening for him. he saw alot of different physical ailments and saw how the hospital, although limited in resources, try to make the best of what they have there. we have also had a chance to meet the Aiton's missionary community here (they come from all different denominations and missions organizations) and its interesting to hear their perspectives on ministry here and the spiritual pulse in this country and how the Nepalese culture fits into so many opportunities here.

anyways, we appreciate your prayers and support. we are still a little jet lagged, but God has supplied enough energy for what we need. we may not have internect access in Itahari, so we'll update as we are able to.

for His kingdom,
wayne & ruth =)
