Worst Date Ever

Ok, this entry is inspired by Tash, as we were earlier swapping horror dating stories from our college days. This one's for you. May you never have dates like these again. =)

So let me preface a bit here.... I've been on dates where I didn't even know it was a "date" until I walk right into it. The naiive one that I am - I'm always assuming that I'm having a casual lunch with an aquaintance, until they wig out on me. So that's what happened with this one guy - the summer after undergrad soph year. I was interning at Amat and this guy who used to go to CCIC, wanted to do lunch sometime. Sure why not? The moment I walked into his small, dirty (there was crap everywhere), messy old car of his, I thought otherwise - he was acting awkwardly formal and nervous (telltale signs of a "date") for a simple friendly lunch. First of all, his driving was TERRIBLE. I was clinging on to dear life, while he was being rudely honked at, and even yelled at from the road. Needless to say, I wasn't much of a conversationalist during lunch (lunch was some random chinese place - I don't remember much of it, except for the fact that I wanted to go back to the office badly). He tried to make small "date" talk - but failed miserably. It was terribly awkward.

Now if you think that was it, think again. He took me out again (I had a difficult time saying no politely) but this time, he learned his lesson and pulled up in very nice clean new car. His driving was much better, and tried his best not to replicate his last ghetto date. So he switched gears and tried to be suave and slick with me. He fed me cheesy love lines in the car, and after each cheesy line, he would pull out a rose from underneath the driver's seat. I ended up with three very wilty roses, and ready to DIE of embarrassment right there. It was so painful to watch him try so hard. I was morbidly disgusted, yet I felt sorry for him, and all the while wanting to run away.

So anyways, that was probably the most uncomfortable date I've ever been on - although there were other weird first dates, that one sticks on my mind as one of the worst.
