Romping around in Monterey
So we've been hanging out in Monterey and in good ol' San Jose. Hung out at Fisherman's Wharf, and went to the Aquarium (hadn't seen it since I was a kid). The Aquarium has changed quite a bit! Really liked the new jellies bit. Of course, my environmentalist tree-hugging husband loved every minute of it, and dragged me around all the "almost extinct" section and all the listings of closely watched species. To his horror, I actually got hungry from seeing all this fish (my mouth was watering over the seabass, rock cod, salmon, you get the picture).
In San Jose, we didn't have that much time to hang out with folks (we kept it a down-low from others knowing that we were in town, but I guess its no longer a secret now that I'm blogging about it), but I did get a chance to see Barb and Thomas briefly, and talk to Cindy Y. on the phone. And of course, my BIL, Kenn. It was nice to come back briefly. My in-laws' home has slowly become my own second home, and that is always nice and comforting. The essence of home has always been important to me, whether its a physical location, or just being in the presence of family (or people who love you no matter what). And right now with the life stage that I'm at, Wayne is now my new family, and the close friends surrounding us today are included in our extended family. And for us, that's the essence of home.
