The sin of presumption

Years ago the Lord taught me one of the most precious lessons in the faith-life that I have ever learned. And it was simply this: Though I may become increasingly mature as a son in God's purpose, I never will get past being a child in my need of Him! We may become mature sons or daughters in the Lord but never forget: You and I will always be dependent children. No amount of growth or maturity will change that, even though our experiences of years and deeper grasp of God's Word may tempt us to suppose we have passed beyond such need.
