Yesterday Wayne surprised me by coming home for lunch. He had the entire afternoon off, which was really cool. So we basically hung out all afternoon, ran errands, and came back home in time to cook dinner together. One of my biggest comfort foods is good old fashioned spaghetti. Wayne makes his sauce from scratch (before I met him, I never knew you can make spaghetti sauce other than getting it from Ragu) and its always really yummy. I made some winter melon soup out of chicken stock and pork bones.

As I am typing, I have three snoozing friends upstairs (I'm downstairs). Gene, Edwin, and Margaret came by (from a long weekend of skiing/boarding) around 3am last night, and I'm guessing they won't get up until close to noon. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying a nice quiet brunch here, curled up with a book and some warm french toast-wiches. Tonight is New Year's Eve, and a whole slew of parties to choose from. To appease everyone, Wayne and I will probably politely stop by a couple friends' places, and then stop by Mike's near the end. Wayne's co-worker Nate is having a party too, and we'll probably stop by his place (although I'm still pretty embarrassed about the whole Christmas episode -- see my 12/25/02 entry).
