Last political thoughts

I have to admit, not everything I voted for went through. I'm realizing more and more that although I am seen as a liberal in my church circles, I tend to err as a fiscally conservative liberal at best. Some of those measures just costed too much, and I voted against alot of them, just because I felt that the money spent could be used more effectively elsewhere, or there ought to be a better way of drawing funds than what was proposed in these seemingly random ideas presented in these propositions. Oh well.

I am also reminded of the political realm here. Someone once mentioned to me that one of the strongholds here is that everything is (seemingly) political. I keenly saw that as I trudged through my social work program here - the sentiment was that every problem in society, every dispute, every need, could be solved political. As if everything was handled only in that realm! Is everything political? Of course not. To get tied up in thinking that our political system is the only way we can make a significant impact in this country is the biggest lie Satan can ever feed us. If anything, it leads us right into legalism, and a poor witness of Christ to everyone around us at best.

No, not everything is political. And no, we cannot put our entire trust in this man-made system nor man-made propositions/ideas nor even in man himself (candidates). The govenor is just a mere man. Even the president (gasp!) is just a mere man. In whom do we put our complete and entire trust and hopes in? What is temporary? What is eternal? Some thoughts to chew on.
