Chiquitas in Sacramento
Esther, Lucy, Angela, and Camille came over Thursday night and we spent nearly all of Friday hanging out and catching up. It was great to see the girls again and catch up. Steph, post-call, stopped by. And Jeannie stopped by to say hello too. We even saw Priscilla at Raley's, but Camille didn't want to disturb her class so we didn't say hi. Anyways, I'm pretty pooped. I think I like hosting people and doing the hospitable thing, but it tires me out really quickly. I'm never sure how "comfortable" people are with staying at someone else's house... how many things should I offer or take care of, or whether they are quite independent in getting things on their own. Anyhow, then I rushed over to my appt with Viv - and we talked for +3 hours! Seriously, our throats were starting to get dry and a bit scratchy. But talk about the Holy Spirit being with us... and from it, I got another person who is eager to serve/lead our Accountability ministry. I think every time I set up these appointments, I'm always desperately asking God to DO something with it, because at most, I am just a lump on a log, listening to these girls. I sincerely want to get to know each one and build up a relationship with each, but I want Him to be intimately involved with our meetings. And so far, He's pulled through each time.
Anyways, here's the Friday Five!
1. Is the name you have now the same name that's on your birth certificate? If not, what's changed?
No. I changed my middle name (which is now my maiden name) and my last name (which is now my married name).
2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?
I'd keep it the same. I used to hate my name (sounds like it belongs to an old lady), but now I'm appreciating who I am and my identity with my name and who that represents (me!). =)
3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)
I was named after Ruth the Moabitess from the Bible. I'll bet you it was my mom's idea (my dad's not really into doing spiritual things like that for the family). All my siblings are named after a biblical person from the Bible - Danny was short for Daniel, and Priscilla, I guess my parents were studying the New Testament by then and came across Aquila's tent-making wife.
4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?
I don't really have a particularly strong opinion of either - out of respect for everyone's names. Even though some names may strike others as odd, I think each name is special because it represents that particular individual. So I've decided to withhold my tongue.
5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com / trigger.org / astroexpert accurate? How or how isn't it?
It's O-K but I can never tell whether I'm reading into it or whether its just being vague and anyone could fit the description. Although people have told me in the past that I fit very well with the definition of "Ruth" or the character of Ruth the Moabitess (according to how they interpret her "character traits").
