Weekend Recap
Went down for E&K's wedding for the weekend... I was half-dreading and half-excited to see some of my college buddies. This particular group of friends (mostly dorm buddies and high school crowd in college) is somewhat of a sore spot for me, because I have alot of regrets with some of these relationships/friendships back in college. I wished I had handled some of my friendships differently.... been less judgmental, more caring. On the flipside, I had wished that some of those friends had been less judgmental towards me and had less expectations of me as well. I crumbed under some of those expectations and sought refuge in a couple CEF sisters instead (and the rest, as they say, is history). I know its a lame excuse, and that's why I was full of regrets. But the wedding happened and seeing all the older (and rounder) faces was terrific. Almost made me miss the old times. The past was the past - I didn't know better back then and did the best I could with the little that I knew. On another note, I got a chance to see CL, so that was great too. And of course, we wish the best for E and his bride. E's a really good guy, and he deserves true happiness.
The other half of the weekend - Wayne ended up working (being on-call). We had a big long talk right on the ride down to SJ (before E's wedding) about the frustrating differences in how we communicate and relate to each other. It was so upsetting that Wayne had to pull off the road and we sat in the car, talking for over an hour about how to solve this miscommunication problem that we keep running into. Throughout this marriage (which, btw, is not even 16 months yet) I'm reminded over and over again just how different men and women are. The talk was good, though, and though alot of tears shed (mostly on my part), our love and relationship was affirmed even more. I know that these situations are normal, and are the little steps in the beginning of a marriage that set things off in the right direction... I only wish that I had another couple to tell us what to anticipate beforehand. =P
