Woke up to a phone call this morning.... rather than letting the machine pick up, I decided to answer it (maybe it was Wayne?) but [surprise!] it was Art Lum!! Good ol' Art. We caught up a bit, and he asked whether I could watch his cutie 15 month old while they are up in Sac for a professional development conference at River Life Covenent.

Wayne's car is in the shop. It had (seemingly) battery problems (or maybe it was the alternator?). So we got the alternator replaced (belts and all) and the shop guy says there's a battery leak and we should replace it soon. Wayne scoffs at that, and off we go to Disneyland. Now that we're back, the car won't start. We tried jump starting it with my car, and it still won't start. So we towed it to Pep Boys to have a look. Looks like it was a multi-problem situation here. We'll be picking it up this afternoon, so by then we'll hear what they think.

A little worried about kebs. He seems to be on this financial streak (ever read "Rich Dad Poor Dad"?). Which is fine, I suppose, if that's not your ultimate passion and goal in life. There are millions of theories and ways to make a buck in a quick, efficient manner, but in the end, what's it all come down to? As Wayne puts it: What's your goal with making all that money? Just to accumulate more money? I think the past couple years of being financially independent has taught me a bit about being a steward of my money, rather than just making more. Actually, I really don't care about making more. I'm trying hard not to put my security (and desire) in that, and that's why I left Silicon Valley. Had to get away from the money monsters. Including my parents (who would have killed me if they found out I had left my start-up company and forfeited my potentially lucrative stock options). Not my priorities. Strangely enough, I was hoping to be "poor" (I get nervous around alot of money). Which is weird because now I'm married to a doctor who has a nice stock profolio... but we figured out how we'll be stewards of our money. Like a hot potato, we'll be investing it just to give it back to God.
